The ''number of days in membership'' for a public school student is the total number of school days within a given term of the school year that the student's name is on the current roll of a class, regardless of his/her being present or absent. The sum of the ''number of days in membership'' for all students divided by the number of school days in the given term yields the average daily membership. The term for this variable is the first month of the school year. See also LINC variable 928, public school final average daily membership. Average daily membership is a more accurate count of the number of students in school than enrollment. Listed under the first year, i.e., 2003 represents the 2003-2004 school year. From 2015 state total data includes virtual charter school membership data and does not equal the sum of counties.
