A traffic fatality is the death due to injuries of an individual within 30 days from the date of a reportable traffic accident in which he/she was involved, as determined by the investigating officer's report, which is filed within 24 hours of the accident. Reported by county of occurrence. Effective January 1, 1989, the basis for recording a traffic fatality was lowered from 90 to 30 days from the date of the accident.
