Stratifiers: Sex, Race | This is one of a set of variables, 401-424, each providing the population for the specified age group, and having race and sex as stratifiers. Depending on the year, these data are the corrected census counts (April 1, 1970, 1980, 1990 - see note below), or the estimate or projection from the State Demographer (April 1 of census years or July 1 of noncensus years). All years past the most recent estimate are projected. A projection differs from an estimate in that it relies on certain assumptions about long-term trends. The age/race/sex distribution usually is technically considered a projection, even where the county total is an estimate. 1980 and 1990 data are from the Modified Age, Race, and Sex files, and 1970 data are from a similar corrected file.
