This method represents an extension of the method used to estimate households for states based on national trends in the average adult population per household as described in Current Population Reports, Series P-25, No. 1010, ''State Population and Household Estimates, With Age, Sex, and Components of Change: 1981-1986'' (September 1987), pp. 12-14.
