Pride marches and celebrations have been annual events since 1970 and were federally recognized in 1999. While collection and reporting of same-sex data is evolving, the US Census Bureau estimates that there were 1.1 million same-sex household in the nation in 2022. The dashboard below highlights the presence and importance of same-sex households in North Carolina to commemorate LGBTQ Pride Month.
